Originally from Minnesota, alto saxophonist Pat Mallinger has been a Chicago mainstay since the early nineties. He consistently turns up with the best bands playing in Chicago today. Pat is also a talented leader in his own right, having led The Sabertooth Organ Quartet since 1991 and co-led the Pat Mallinger / Chris Lega Quartet for years.
After graduating from the fabled jazz college, North Texas State, Pat hit the road with Woody Herman, Cab Calloway and The Artie Shaw Orchestra. Since moving to Chicago, Pat has appeared with Joe Williams, Tony Bennett, The Imperials, Eddie Kendricks, Bobbi Wilsyn, The Doug Lawrence Orchestra, The Jazz Members Orchestra and The Chicago Jazz Orchestra. He is also a performer/instructor with Ramsey Lewis and The Ravinia Festival Jazz Mentor Sextet. Pat has released a CD made up entirely of his own compositions and arrangements, titled "Monday Prayer To Tunkashila." It was featured as one of the Chicago Reader's "Best of 1995."
